Peninsula Free Health Services (PFHS), which provides care to uninsured patients on the Blue Hill peninsula and surrounding towns, will close its doors on December 31, 2021.
The clinic’s board voted unanimously to close the clinic due to changes in our patient base, difficulty recruiting volunteer providers and staff, and challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. On a positive note, we have found that more of our client base have been able to access healthcare through the Affordable Care Act and our state’s expanded Medicaid program.
The Peninsula Free Clinic, located at 26 Hinckley Ridge Road, Blue Hill will hold its last 3 open clinic dates on Monday, November 15 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, Saturday, November 20 from 9:00 am to noon, and Monday, November 29 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. After that, the volunteer staff will begin closing operations, with an anticipated completion day of December 31, 2021.
Any Peninsula Free Clinic patients who wish to have their records should leave a message on the Clinic answering machine at 374-5585. Patients will be called back and arrangements will be made to get records to you. Record requests may also be mailed to Peninsula Free Health P.O. Box 252 Blue Hill, ME 04614.
Many thanks go to our Clinic founder, the late Dr. Jane Garfield, and our community and corporate donors for their continued generous support during our eight years of operation. We are so grateful to our volunteer staff and our partnership with Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital. We are proud of our Clinic’s work and the quality and quantity of care provided to many of our community’s most vulnerable citizens.
